Bob Lees

Bob Lees

Bob Lees studied at Glasgow School of Art and graduated in 1959. After completing National Service in the RAF in Singapore, he qualified as a teacher of art in Glasgow.

Throughout his teaching life he has always painted, being of the belief that an art teacher should also be a practising artist. Now retired from the post of Principal Teacher of Art at Craigmount High School in Edinburgh, he can devote more time and energy to painting.

Together with his wife Val (a stained glass artist and teacher) they have renovated various properties in Edinburgh, Arran and the Borders. They have three grown up daughters also in the art world. Bob paints mostly in acrylics and depicts the many different moods of the Scottish landscape.

Bob Lees has had solo exhibitions in Edinburgh and Arran, and exhibited in other galleries (one of his paintings was presented to the late Princess Diana on an official visit to Arran). His work hangs in various private collections in the UK, Europe, Russia and the United States. Bob and Val live in Edinburgh but spend much of their time in their converted church in Corrie on the Isle of Arran.

ISLAND BLUE GALLERY

Island Blue Gallery is an art gallery and gift shop located at Baliscate, near Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. We have a beautiful, light space filled with works by many skillful Scottish artists ranging from the mysterious and tranquil sweeping landscapes of Garry Brander to the mythical and surreal fantastical worlds of Matylda Konecka. A lot of the prints we stock have a distinctly Scottish feel and truly capture the essence of Scotland's landscape and wildlife.
